This funky cabin sits on the South Fork of the Eel River in Lower Redway near Garberville on Highway 101. This cabin was built long ago as a model home for Pacific Lumber. The front is still covered in bark siding from local redwood trees. In side the huge stone fireplace and picture window account for the rustic feel of the cabin. It has a kitchen equipped for cooking - even a Mickey mouse waffle iron!

The dining room boasts large picture ( single pane ) windows that allow for a beautiful view of surrounding area. The cabin is near the end of a private road and gets very little traffic. There are quiet neighbors on one side only and the single car road meanders through a grove of redwoods and a mixture of old and new houses. At the end of the opposite side of the road is a swimming hole that swims well through August. We have recently dug a firepit for summer evening fun.

The inside decor and structure are equally unique....The Moose head sits on one side of the vaulted living room and the elk antlers guard the other side, with 2 wagon wheel lights in between! In one bedroom there is a queen and single bed along with a somewhat usable crib. The other bedroom contains a full size bed. There is one single bed in the main room, 2 couches and some floor space if needed. Close to the cabin are the Benbow Inn and golf course where they dam the river in the summer for swimming (also have a Shakespeare festival here in July...contact chamber of commerce). There are great hikes and walks in the nearby Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Avenue of the Giants. Shelter Cove beach lies over hills and around the curves where they boast a black sand beach and ocean fishing.
